Basics of Seed Germination

Learn the foundation of germination and what seedlings need in order to evolve into a plant. We will cover the basics of seeds and their needs up to transplantation. Most of our edible plants produce from seed. With so many options available on the market, this class will provide you with essential information and several tricks to help increase germination rates and the plant quality. Let's talk seed companies and several favorite companies and small farms. We will cover utilizing basic supplies on a budget, followed by setting up our germination area. In addition, we will discuss types of soil, along with air and soil temperatures that play a huge role in the germination process. Last, but not least, we will talk about germination of our little seeds and all the different options we have for starting them out strong and healthy.

Attendees will leave with a booklet that references everything we covered. The pamphlet will include where to obtain quality supplies at affordable prices, links to helpful guides, timeline of when to start all your seeds, and Dustin's own organic fertilizer recipe.

$30 for non-members, $15 for members.

Dustin Green founded 10 Acre Woods in 2012. A small family farm located in Norman, Oklahoma, they grow produce, eggs, and chicken. Starting with just six chickens, which quickly grew into a rather large flock that roams all over the property enjoying grass and bugs. All of the chickens are free-ranged on pasture which gives their eggs a nice dark yolk. Eventually, it was the demand for fresh food shaped our farm from over grown land to a large garden. Our vegetable seeds, all non-GMO, are sourced from organic and heirloom seeds sources.
