Hott MT - Tour/Performance Support
Sixtwelve 2026 music residency application
Are you a musician who is a solo act or in a band? Do you have a project in motion, but need a little support for recording, mixing, and mastering? Or maybe you're ready to take your completed project "on the road” or present it to the world through a music video? Since 2015, we have completed 30 creative residencies and have been so proud to support artists giving of themselves to their communities. If you’d like to see our past residents and their projects, click HERE. This year we're opening our music residencies to people from anywhere in the United States, but will give special consideration to musicians from Oklahoma, Savannah, GA and from Los Angeles, and we're now offering three different types of residencies to which musicians can apply:
Recording, Mixing, Mastering ($16,000)
Support Grant for touring ($5,000)
Support Grant ($5,000) for creating a music video (with our film and production team.)
Here's all the fine print:
The residency application closes on March 13, 2026
We will select residents by April 17th and will begin to notify recipients on April 18th.
We will announce the selected residents publicly April 30th.
The recording/mixing/mastering residency can take place anytime from May 15 to December 15, 2026. We will select two recipients for this residency. One recording/mixing/mastering residency must take place in an Oklahoma City studio and the other may take place in another location either in Oklahoma or outside of Oklahoma. This is at the discretion of SixTwelve, the resident, and is meant to support our local studios and studios elsewhere like Sonic Ranch, but also to support musicians at different points in their career.
At least one $5,000 support grant will be given to a musician or band for tour support or for creating a music video. Please select your preference in the application below.
Who is eligible?
Any musician who is currently writing, recording and /or touring is eligible. We focus on Oklahoma, Los Angeles and Savannah songwriters/musicians, but we know that all musicians are facing challenges these days so we want to open up the application to those who are currently giving it their all to create and contribute music in our country.
What does this residency provide?
Recording, Mixing and Mastering Residency:
$5,500 for use of a recording studio for 5-7 days
$3,500 to pay a studio engineer
$1,000 for meals for the week
$6,000 for mixing/mastering
We pay the studio, recording engineer and whoever does the mixing/mastering directly so as to reduce your tax liability at the end of the year. Local/Oklahoma recipients agree to perform one paid ($500) 45 minute set at a SixTwelve First Friday show during the 2026-2027 series.
Tour Support/Music Video:
$5,000 will be given to at last one musician/band who have a tour planned for anytime between the time we announce the residency recipients and December 15, 2026. One paid ($500), 45 minute First Friday performance at SixTwelve will be required in return if you are a local recipient. If you are located somewhere outside of Oklahoma, this will not be required unless you are planning to come through OKC on your tour.
Residency Facility:
The first Recording/Mixing/Mastering residency can take place at any established recording studio in the Oklahoma City metro area. , one may choose a different studio outside of the OKC metro area. Please indicate where you would like to record and with whom (what studio Engineer you would like to record with) in your application.
SixTwelve will make these payments directly to the recording engineers, studios, and other individuals or companies that provide these services once the work is completed with each entity. We are open to giving a downpayment to the studio or engineer upfront to secure their time. Further social media posts will be expected but we will reach an agreement with the resident to determine what is appropriate and when.
We understand that the amount of our grants might not cover the entire process of making a record, coordinating a tour, or creating a music video, but it is our hope to give enough that it isn’t impossible for you to raise the rest. We will help connect you to engineers, studios and have our own film and production experts that we will work with on a music video.
Residency Requirements:
