Songwriting in Savannah Residency

Are you an Oklahoma songwriter who just needs a quiet place to write? Or maybe you are needing to get away to collaborate with someone else and write some beautiful music?

Since 2015, SixTwelve has conducted a residency program, providing opportunities for creative people from Oklahoma City, OK, Norman, OK, Memphis, TN, Savannah, GA, Los Angeles, CA and Chicago, Illinois. Our vision for this program has been to provide more opportunities and experiences for people in the creative fields of art, music, film, dance, writing, cooking, farming and more and to serve the communities of Oklahoma City, OK and Savannah, GA. This year SixTwelve is providing a songwriting residency in Savannah, Georgia with the hopes of supporting Oklahoma musicians and the creation of new music.

This Residency Application has closed but we will open it again in January of 2025 for the summer residency to follow.

SixTwelve Residencies are back! After a very successful pilot program in spring of 2022, we decided to continue “keeping it local” and plan to have three residencies each school year, featuring artists, musicians, bands, writers, dancers, chefs or farmers from Oklahoma City (and the surrounding metro area). After the challenges of the last few years, we want to continue to direct our resources and support to creatives in the Oklahoma City community.

Selected residents work with our 6-12 year-old after school program FOUR Wednesdays, from 3-6pm, during a nine week period of time (mid October- mid December, early January - mid March, and late March -mid May) (So not every week) and present the work they accomplished with our students with a celebration at the end of each nine weeks. Residents works closely with SixTwelve staff to determine exact dates, times and activities conducted with our kids.

Payment: Each resident will earn $1000 over the course of their residency. This equals about $30/hour. We will provide all the needed materials (up to $500/residency) so the total payment to each resident could be approximately $1,500, depending on the projects completed with our after school students, payable at the end of each residency/nine weeks.
